Very bad attempt at a joke - while the similar Ghoti was marginally funny and is kind of a classic, this is a rather contrived attempt at humor. Maybe it can find a new lease on life on BJAODN -- Ferkelparade 07:58, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Delete - pointless, bad joke. TPK 08:27, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Delete - god dammit Jim, I'm an encyclopedia, not a joke book :o) Darksun 08:37, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Merge - Put under ghoti as an alternative. It takes a lot of work to find such terrible examples of english spelling! Kim Bruning 08:56, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)

- Delete. Patent nonsense. --Starx 11:31, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Merge: I'm with the man called Kim, here: This ought to be put as a "further example" in the Ghoti article. This stuff does take brain cells. Then kill the original article, of course. Geogre 12:45, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Merge and delete, and I've just done the merge. This joke is apparently currently making the rounds and "ghoughphtheightteeau" currently gets 269 Google hits. Someone more energetic than I might perhaps attempt to determine its origin. "ghoughphtheightteeau neighbor" and "ghoughphtheightteeau neighbour" get roughly equal numbers of hits BTW. I suspect the Brits though, as "hiccough" isn't a common U.S. spelling. [[User:Dpbsmith|dpbsmith (talk)]] 15:44, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I agree that it should be deleted, or simply merged into Ghoti, but I just wanted to clarify that this isn't a new joke -- I read it in a language book twenty years ago. I'm sure it even predates that, because I'm pretty sure the book I read (whose title I can't remember) wasn't the originator. Bearcat 18:41, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Redirect to ghoti, merge has already been done. Encyclopedic information, the only issue is how to index it. Agree it is not new, I can't remember when I first heard it but long ago. Andrewa 01:48, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)
