So, anyone think we should split this up into Category:Lord Chancellors, Category:Lord Presidents of the Council, Category:Lords Privy Seal, Category:Lord High Treasurers, Category:Lord High Stewards, Category:Lord High Admirals, Category:Earls Marshal, Category:Lord Great Chamberlains (assuming there are any articles on them), Category:Lord High Constables? Considering that the article has 347 articles, it might be an idea. Lord chancellors, in particular, probably ought to have their own category. john k 02:48, 16 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Sounds like a good idea, if rather a bit of work. Anyone else's thoughts?

P.S. - is it "Lord Chancellors" or "Lords Chancellor", "Lord Presidents of the Council" or "Lords President of the Council", &c.?

We discussed that a while ago on Talk:Lord Great Chamberlain, and the consensus seemed to be that the "s" went on the end except with Lord Privy Seal, where it went on the "Lord". I'd also be inclined to say "Earl Marshals" rather than "Earls Marshal". Proteus (Talk)

The Earl Marshal thing is a bit odd. In Scotland, the Earl Marshal was actually a title - Earl Marischal. So there would be Earls Marischal there... john k

So I've started categories Category:Lord Chancellors of England and Category:Lord Chancellors of Great Britain. Before I do anymore, does anybody object to either those names, or to that way of dividing it up? john k 05:27, 17 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Seems fine; I've reparented Category:Lord Chancellors of England and Category:Lord Chancellors of Great Britain to be children of Category:Lord Chancellors rather than directly of Category:Great Officers of State.

I've made an initial stab, but there are a few whose articles do not seem to mention them holding a Great Office, which doesn't help.
James F. (talk) 09:48, 17 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Any in particular you're having trouble with? Proteus (Talk) 10:33, 17 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I'm going through them alphabetically, so:
James F. (talk) 11:09, 17 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Alanbrooke was Constable, Villiers was Constable and Admiral, both Staffords were Constable, Cecil of Chelwood and John Coke were Lord Privy Seal, Coventry was Chancellor. Proteus (Talk) 12:08, 17 Sep 2004 (UTC)
Thanks.

Is Lord Keeper a great officer of state? Should we add a subcategory for those who have held this office? john k 16:20, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Do people think we should have Category:Lord Marshals of England or Category:Lords Marshal of England. The same question applies to Earls Marshal/Earl Marshals, I suppose. john k 22:52, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
