Talk:Contemporary mythology
The "Encyclopedia of Fantasy" and other sources use the term "Urban Fantasy" - should we have a link to this subject?
- Urban Fantasy is fantasy fiction where the setting is contemporary urban. Contemporary mythology is an academic term, describing the current nature of the work, not the setting or motif. I don't believe the two concepts are really connected. BarkingDoc
Nice article. I tightened up the language and added a link. I also removed 2 assertions that were simply teasers: too important if true to leave unsupported, but perhaps not really true. Anyone who can support with examples is welcome to replace them. They were: (1) contemporary mythology may have more immediate applications than ancient mythology (2) contemporary mythology is usually understood to be fiction and metaphorical --- though some notable and debatable exceptions exist. Come on! Either put up an example or don't tantalize us with an intriguing but unsupported assertion like this. Thanks. Saurus 02:50, 27 May 2004 (UTC)
- Definetly good points. Not sure what I meant when I originally wrote those. Ha! Over a year year ago. How time flies. BarkingDoc
I have redirected this page to Mythology. The previous article was unsourced original research (my mistake).BarkingDoc 22:28, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
