What's the part in gray? I might sound ignorant, but I've heard there are two Irelands -- or two independent governments: Northern Ireland, which is (or may be seen by some as) a part of England/Britain/UK or whatever they call themselves these days.
It's been a long time since European History class, and I never paid much attention anyway. Please enlighten me now! --Ed Poor
- Aye, but Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (some people don't think it should be part of it, though), isn't a part of the Republic of Ireland is it? Ergo, it's greyed out on the map of "Electoral Constituencies in the Republic of Ireland". --Brion
- For exactly the same reason that Alaska is greyed out on a map of the electoral constituencies of Canada: it's (part of) a different country. - montréalais
