From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hello!

My name is Petko Yotov, I am from Paris, France. Wikipedia user since 2003, mostly active at the Bulgarian Wikipedia -- one of the first editors (since December 6, 2003) and administrators there[1] with a total of more than 20000 edits [2] [3] including >6000 maps (used the account Петко for non-sysop edits, and Robo5 for >45900 automated edits for maintenance). Naturally, my opinions and vision of Wikipedia are based on my experience in the Bulgarian language version and the individuals who form that online community.

The most important, strategic things in Wikipedia (after the GFDL and the WP:NPOV), I think are

And all these are certainly not mutually exclusive. That was the big problem on bg:, at the beginning of the project.[1]

Currently I do not have the time and possibility to work at Wikipedia every day as I did for several years. I also resigned from my administrator rights in the Bulgarian Wikipedia, Wikibooks and Wiktionary and from the infoBG-L (Bulgarian) Wikimedia Press Release team. I still try to participate in the Policy - adoption procedures and discussions. I also sometimes help new users with the software and rules of the encyclopedia, at bg: and at commons: (mostly formatting, proper tagging, etc.)

Disclosure: Since January 2009, I am the core developer of the PmWiki software.

  1. ^ Here is the situation at bg:: extremely rude/impolite user(s) pushing an agenda, intimidating and kicking out new and even long time editors, and then free to maintain their propaganda versions on several key articles; impossible to ban them, as their supporters (more civilized, but sharing the same agenda) were more than 20-25% and no voting could reach the required 80%; almost no new users stayed, this percentage did not change for the first three years. When the user was blocked indefinitely and no sysop was willing to unblock him, regardless of the enormous quarrel that the "supporters" created. The vandal then continued to disrupt the project through several open proxies, and created several sock-puppets, until the community banned him.
