non-notable filmmaker. 7 google hits, and the info in this article is the only info available Salasks 16:05, Aug 5, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete: Not notable enough in the Anglophone world. He may well be appropriate for a Turkish wiki. Geogre 16:40, 5 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. I agree with Geogre. Quadell (talk) 20:24, Aug 5, 2004 (UTC)
- I think we might be jumping the gun a little bit here. 201 hits on alltheweb 1 (which is often better on foreign matters than google, IMHO) Tentative keep. Rhymeless 00:16, 6 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- No IMDB page. Delete. Ambi 09:05, 6 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. Non-notable. Andris 10:46, Aug 6, 2004 (UTC)
- Weak keep. It's not much of an article, so it would not be much of a loss, but (in response to Geogre) the fact that a semi-known is mainly known outside the English-speaking world is not, in my opinion, at all an argument against their inclusion. I'd rather have information in the English Wikipedia on people where there is a shortage of English-language info on the web than keep redundantly reproducing what is reaskly out there. -- Jmabel 03:45, Aug 7, 2004 (UTC)
- Comment: In general I agree with you. I do feel, however, that the threshold for notability moves up slightly with topics that are less likely to be useful to our users. In particular, this individual is a journalist who publishes in Turkish. Therefore, if we would say that a British or American journalist would have to be quite famous to be in (on the grounds that our users want to know about only notable journalists), we would need to ask that a non-Anglophone journalist be either a political force or a truly outstanding voice. Given the fact that the article didn't even tell us where he published or to what readership, I merely suggested that his level of accomplishment evinced in the article might be more appropriate in a wiki dealing with his language group and political state. - Comment: IMDb contains articles about movie makers from all over the world. There are loads of Turkish language movies there (a quick search came up with 3028). If this guy doesn't show up, how notable is he? RickK 05:19, Aug 7, 2004 (UTC)
- It appears that IMDB doesn't always list crews for foreign-language movies, usually only the actors. From what I could gather from mediocre machine translation of his website, most of his work seems to be on the order of television commercials, music videos, and film shorts. - Delete: Vanity. He is not notable even in Turkey. According to his personal website in Turkish he has directed 3 short films, and he's working as an editor in an IT magazine. Most of the Google hits are from websites he maintains. There will not be any more info on him then what's in the article.--leandros 18:16, 8 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Thank you, leandros. We are often at the mercy of the authors on non-English submissions, and it's wonderful to have someone from the language of origin help us out. Geogre 00:36, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- No mention Geogre, thank you. I wish I could do more and find all the other vanities in Turkish territories on WP. Or could speak like 50 more languages.--leandros 23:43, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)
