Shoegaze
[edit]Is shoegaze really cited as one of Dan's influences? His stuff is way more hooky, melodic, and generally creative and a joy to listen to as well flat out different, since it's not overtly atonal, if compared to shoegaze favorites like My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Lush, etc. Anyway, it's cool to see an article building up on Destroyer. I think I'll try and add an interview link as well as some information on past tours and how Dan is not into touring... ~ May 19th 2005 Haruki
- I got that from here --Tydaj 20:02, 9 October 2005 (UTC)
Year of birth
[edit]I don't know how old Dan Bejar is, but I am guessing he was not born in 1982? That would have made him like 13 when Destroyer put their first album out. --Cwage 23:19, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
IPA
[edit]I changed the IPA for his name. The last consonant was transcribed as a voiced uvular fricative. This is highly unlikely for a Vancouver native of (presumed) Hispanic descent. This phoneme is present in almost no English dialect (save some rural areas in the south of England and some (mostly older) Jewish people who retained this phoneme from Yiddish). It is not even present in Canadian French (français québécois). I replaced it with a voiced alveolar approximant. This is how most English speakers (especially from the US and Canada) pronounce their 'r's. 69.209.226.170 23:49, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. I always get those two confused. --Tydaj 01:26, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
destroyer discography
[edit]It should include this record: 1950: Soul Junk url=http://www.amazon.ca/1950-Soul-Junk-Destroyer/dp/B00005CENP/ref=sr_1_5/702-4506924-7648866?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1189158199&sr=1-5]. I edited it once, but someone removed it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by B.burl (talk • contribs) 09:50, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
That's Streethawk. There's no destroyer album by that name. A search for [1950 soul junk] reveals that it's probably a Christian hip-hop act. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.210.194.235 (talk) 07:18, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Split Article
[edit]Given that Bejar now has a fourth (?) collaboration, Hello, Blue Roses, I think it's probably best if Bejar has his own page, separate from that of 'Destroyer' (yes, even though he is Destroyer). For Dan Bejar to redirect to the page on the band Destroyer leaves out a lot of his actual biography, his collaborations. -- Chabuk [ T • C ] 03:13, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Definately Agree. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.245.227.160 (talk) 01:37, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. Just look at Britt Daniel and Drake Tungsten (Britt's solo pseudonym) for another example.(Fulmerg (talk) 20:34, 18 March 2008 (UTC))

Wanted to remove notice on top of page indicating that more citations were needed. The reason is that I have thoroughly added citations to every statement in the article about this musician. Thank you.
